🇬🇧 Collared Flycatcher

🇲🇹 Żanzarell tal-Kullar

(Ficedula albicollis)

The Collared Flycatcher makes part of the Old World Flycatchers. It’s name derives from the white collar that distinguishes it from the European Pied Flycatcher (amongst other features). The Collared Flycatcher usually perches in shady parts within afforested areas, darting out to catch flying insects on which it feeds. Although it prefers catching insects in flight it be also seen foraging on the ground for crawling insects.
