🇬🇧 Dartford Warbler

🇲🇹 Bufula tax-Xagħri

(Curruca undata)

The Dartford Warbler is a rather scarce wintering visitor in the Maltese islands. They usually visit around November and some of them set up camp up until March. They prefer garigue land with plenty of bushes where they can hide. To photograph this species in other countries one must wait for the breeding season where they usually go on top of bushes and sing their electric song to establish and protect their territory. It is one of the few times this species is even seen since this warbler is a skulking expert.
