In contrast to the Collared Flycatcher the European Pied Flycatcher does not have a white collar. The feeding behaviour also differs since the European Pied Flycatchers feed on both flying and crawling insects without having a preference. It perches in shady afforested areas where it observes the area for insects to devour.
