The European Robin is a winter visitor in Malta, setting up a territory and fiercely defending it from other intruders. Usually associated with winter in the Maltese Islands, it can be heard singing heartily in the very early morning from its favourite perch from where it projects its beautiful melody throughout its territory. It loves to feed on invertebrates, but will also sometimes take seeds and fruit.

Fun fact: Many people believe that this bird has a red coloured breast, when in fact it has an orange coloured breast.
