🇬🇧 Spectacled Warbler
🇲🇹 Bufula Ħamra
(Curruca conspicillata)
The Spectacled Warbler is a small sylviid warbler that inhabits selective parts of Malta, mainly where there are shrubs in garigue land. It used to be very common in the Maltese islands but unfortunately in the 1980s its population reduced drastically. This particular warbler is very territorial and around mid-January one can observe territorial fights between the males until the territories are established. These territorial fights can happen even earlier when the winter season is not that harsh.
