🇲🇹 Bagħal tal-Imrewħa
(Cisticola juncidis)

The Zitting Cisticola is a polygamous breeder with a single male having multiple females and nests. . The male builds a multitude of nests and tries to lure in females to the nests. When a female is interested, she chooses the nest and the male then completes it, sometimes even dismantling unused nests to complete the chosen ones. The Zitting Cisticola has become a very common breeder here in Malta since 1973. It prefers mainly insects and larvae, sometimes also seeds.
